Tasha and Alistair’s Colourful, Easygoing Wedding at The Engine Works Glasgow
A relaxed, colourful wedding packed with sculptural florals, confetti, great Glasgow food and the loveliest group of people. Tasha and Alistair’s wedding at The Engine Works was a complete joy from start to finish and one I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
A Venue That Meant Something Real
The Engine Works sits right on the canal which is the same route Tasha and Alistair walked during lockdown. They passed the venue so many times and would say how amazing it would be to get married there. Fast forward and that wee wish turned into their actual wedding day. You could feel that personal connection all the way through.
The venue has loads of different spaces and we used pretty much all of them. There is so much variety and the light is gorgeous throughout. Industrial in all the right ways and once Flowers Vermilion worked their magic, the whole place looked incredible.
Getting Ready in the West End and at Home
Alistair and his grooms people got ready at home with my second shooter Rachel, while I joined Tasha and her crew at a gorgeous Airbnb in the west end. Both mornings were relaxed with plenty of space and time, which really helps keep the photos natural and candid.
Sculptural Florals and Proper Glasgow Goodness
Flowers Vermilion created the most stunning sculptural florals that worked perfectly with the space.
Food was by The Green Light Events and they also brought in snacks from Ranjit’s Kitchen which everyone was buzzing about. Later on there were Tantrum Donuts and Nowita ice cream which is basically a dream team. Everything felt very Glasgow and very them.
Videographers Shooting Super 8 and Some Sweet Moments
Greg and Connor from The April Frames were filming the day and also shooting on Super 8. Some of my favourite images from the whole wedding are of the two of them filming each other. It was such a sweet little moment and added a lovely nostalgic feel to the day.
Confetti, Golden Hour and Canal Portraits
The confetti exit was iconic. They brought a huge amount of confetti from Your Confetti and there was a moment where the cloud was so big I genuinely could not see them. My dream scenario.
Later on, we nipped out to the canal for ten minutes and the golden hour light was unreal. Just a soft glow, still water and the two of them taking a breather before heading back inside. These are some of my favourite portraits of the whole year.
Dancefloor Confetti Cannons and an Accordion Surprise
The evening kicked off with dancefloor confetti cannons which took the party straight to eleven.
Then Alistair surprised Tasha by joining the band and playing a song on the accordion. Her reaction was everything and it was such an amazing moment to photograph - he defo managed to surprise her… and everyone! It was the cutest!
Getting Married at The Engine Works
If you are planning a wedding at The Engine Works or anywhere along the canal I would love to photograph it. It is a brilliant Glasgow venue and days like this remind me why I enjoy it so much.
