Laid Back, Luxe Wedding at Drumtochty Castle
With the wonderful Hannah & Ross
Sunshine + Good Vibes at Drumtochty Castle
From the moment I arrived at Drumtochty Castle, I knew it was going to be a good one - I’d been really looking forward to working at this venue. The sun was out (properly out!), everyone was buzzing, and the whole vibe was just so chilled and full of joy. Ross and Hannah were the absolute best and the kind of couple who just leaned into every moment, trusted the process, and didn’t take themselves too seriously. The dream.
Morning Prep with the MVP
They both got ready at the castle in the morning which made everything feel super relaxed - no rushing about between locations. My second shooter Eni and I floated about between rooms and spaces capturing all the behind-the-scenes goodness, including one very important member of the wedding party: Ted, their beautiful dog and the official ring bearer. He stole the show.
Slight Ceremony Hiccup
The ceremony took place in the wee church on the grounds – St Palladius Church – and the light was just unreal. Golden and glowing and all-round magic. Although there was a slight squeeky bum moment when we realised the coach that was meant to collect the bridal party had completely forgotten to come back. So Hannah, her bridesmaids, and her mum and dad were just… waiting. Luckily, a wedding can’t start without the bride, so it worked out just fine – and gave us all a good laugh.
Couples Portraits + That Golden Hour Light
After the ceremony, we made the most of the church backdrop while the guests headed back to the castle. It meant Ross and Hannah didn’t miss any of their drinks reception time, and we got some really lovely portraits in that gorgeous light. Then later on, we headed back out for a quick wander during golden hour and the photos speak for themselves.
This was my first time shooting at Drumtochty Castle, and I’m already desperate to go back. The staff were incredible - calm, helpful, and everything ran like clockwork.
All the Joy
The whole day just felt like a massive pals’ party - so much joy, so many hugs, and everyone just properly up for a good time. The dance-floor was full, the band were brilliant.
To Ross and Hannah - thank you for being such legends! And to Ted – I’ll be telling everyone I work with dogs now.
