Ciara & Chris - A Relaxed, Golden Wedding at Rossie on the Earn

Ciara and Chris’s wedding at Rossie on the Earn in Perth was one of those days that reminds you why you love photographing weddings in the first place. Relaxed, stylish, and completely unforced - a couple fully present, surrounded by their people, in a venue that quietly does everything right.

They found me through Google while searching for a Rossie on the Earn wedding photographer, and having already booked the venue, they were excited to see how it would all come together. I’d seen Rossie online and was desperate to shoot there and it absolutely blew me away.

A calm, sun-soaked morning at Rossie on the Earn

The day began with a relaxed morning, with both partners getting ready separately in the on-site cottages. It was a seriously hot summer day, but the spaces at Rossie made everything feel calm and unhurried - light-filled rooms, beautiful details, and plenty of space to settle into the day.

From the very start, it felt like one of those weddings where nothing was being rushed or forced. Everyone had time. And that tone carried through the entire day.

Why Rossie on the Earn is an incredible wedding venue

Rossie on the Earn is one of those venues that manages to feel both expansive and intimate at the same time. The estate is huge, but it’s full of thoughtful details that make it feel warm, relaxed, and genuinely special.

As a wedding photographer, the light across the venue is exceptional. Soft, flattering, and consistent throughout the day — from the ceremony space, to the barn where dinner takes place, to the surrounding grounds. The barn itself is stunning: rustic without feeling rough, elevated without losing character.

One of my favourite spots was the walled garden - a peaceful, beautiful space that’s perfect for couple portraits. It’s ideal for sneaking away for photos without feeling like you’re missing your own wedding.

A ceremony that felt completely natural

Ciara and Chris’s ceremony was heartfelt, relaxed, and full of warmth. Guests were present, engaged, and genuinely enjoying the moment - not watching the clock, not worrying about what came next.

This is always when the best photographs happen: when couples are truly in the day, trusting the people they’ve chosen, and letting things unfold naturally.

Singing waiters and a proper surprise

After the speeches came a moment no one saw coming - singing waiters, organised by Ciara’s mum. It was a total surprise for the couple and their guests, and almost for me too. I found out just moments before it happened, just enough time to grab my camera and catch the reactions as the room erupted.

The energy shift was instant. Shock, laughter, people on their feet - it completely kicked the party into gear and was such a brilliant, unexpected moment.

Golden hour portraits in perfect light

As the sun dropped, we headed outside for golden hour and Rossie delivered again. Warm light, open space, and just enough quiet for Ciara and Chris to have a moment together before the evening celebrations continued.

Nothing staged. Nothing awkward. Just natural, easy portraits in beautiful surroundings.

A venue that runs beautifully

The entire day ran seamlessly, thanks to the incredible team at Rossie on the Earn and the brilliant planning by Lavender Blue Weddings. Everything felt calm, considered, and well-paced with is exactly what you want on a wedding day.

From a photographer’s point of view, it’s a dream venue to work at, and from a couple’s point of view, it’s somewhere you can truly relax and enjoy your day.
