Jet & Aleisha’s Elegant Edinburgh Wedding at City Chambers & Gleneagles Townhouse
Some weddings just feel effortlessly stylish and Jet + Aleisha’s was exactly that. Intimate, elegant, and filled with their closest family, their day was the perfect celebration of connection and style in the heart of Edinburgh, where the couple had met.
Getting Ready at The Grand
The morning began at the stunning Edinburgh Grand, where both brides got ready separately in the luxury apartments. The atmosphere was calm but full of anticipation as final touches of hair and make-up came together.
Aleisha wore the most incredible off-the-shoulder gown, with a very Vivienne Westwood-inspired silhouette timeless yet modern. Jet chose a beautifully structured appliqué corset with tailored trousers and a removable train by Halfpenny London, a look that was both edgy and romantic.
Ceremony at Edinburgh City Chambers
Their ceremony took place at the iconic Edinburgh City Chambers, one of my favourite spots for intimate weddings in the city. The room was filled with the warmth of their closest family, the perfect setting to celebrate such a personal moment.
The confetti outside afterwards was glorious (I’m a confetti-obsessed photographer and this one did not disappoint!). The laughter, the colour, and the joy of that moment set the tone for the rest of the day.
Because Jet + Aleisha are naturally a little camera-shy, we kept their portraits calm and intimate. I led them first to the quieter courts behind St Giles Cathedral which is a little hidden gem right in the middle of the city. It gave them breathing space to relax and just be themselves before the next adventure
Exploring the City in Style
The couple had arranged an incredible vintage Cadillac, driven by the brilliant Levi from Capital Cadillac, to take us on a wee tour of the city. This gave us the freedom to explore some of Edinburgh’s quieter corners:
Dunbar’s Close Gardens is a tucked-away spot that feels like stepping back in time. We had the whole place to ourselves, and it was so peaceful for portraits.
Stills Analogue Photo Booth on Cockburn Street - Jet convinced Aleisha to hop in, and the resulting film strip was such a fun, personal keepsake to take back to the reception.
These little detours gave Jet + Aleisha space to connect, laugh, and enjoy the experience without feeling “posed” which is always my favourite way to shoot.
Reception at Gleneagles Townhouse
We finished the day at the gorgeous Gleneagles Townhouse, one of Edinburgh’s most stylish boutique hotels. The floral installation on the doorstep was the perfect backdrop for a few final portraits before the couple headed inside.
While they joined guests for drinks, I photographed the dinner set-up - elegant table-scapes decorated with wild, delicate blooms by Ochre Botanical Studios, which tied the whole look together beautifully. Speeches before dinner rounded off the evening perfectly, filled with laughter, heartfelt words, and plenty of emotion.
Jet + Aleisha booked me for half-day coverage which is a perfect option for couples who want more than just a ceremony + portraits, but don’t need full-day photography. It meant I could tell the whole story from prep through to speeches while keeping things relaxed and intimate.
A Stylish, Intimate LGBTQ+ Celebration in Edinburgh
What I loved most about this day was the balance between elegance and intimacy. Jet + Aleisha kept their guest list small, focusing on connection and meaning. They brought their own sense of style to everything from their outfits to the little personal touches like the photo booth and it felt so true to who they are as a couple.
As an inclusive wedding photographer, it means so much to me to capture love in all its forms. Jet + Aleisha’s day was a reminder that weddings don’t have to follow tradition - they can be stylish, personal, and completely authentic to you.
